Supporting Future Cornish Career Success

Groundsure is committed to supporting our Cornish community. Our Cornwall team has been based in the county for 40 years and I’ve been lucky enough to have been part of that for some 30 of those. We are proud to have contributed to a number of local charities and supported institutions whenever the opportunity has arisen. We have sponsored the West of Cornwall football team, Camborne Rugby Club and the Storm netball team in that time.

We are also business partners with Pool Academy and I recently attended their year 11 mock interview day as an interviewer. It’s a brilliant opportunity to meet the pupils and pass on some advice regarding CV buil -ding and interview techniques.

Ian, Head of Search Department, sharing his knowledge at the Mock Interview Day.

From talking to them, recent restrictions have denied them vitally important interview and work experience. At the same time, undeniably, it has been very difficult for businesses like ourselves to offer those opportunities. The interviews really brought home the importance that such placements play in individual development and especially confidence. We will be only too keen to support more of our local community as restrictions hopefully lift.

Nigel Williams, Pool Academy teacher and organiser of the interview day, said “The outcomes can be life changing and we would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank the businesses who gave up their time to support our year 11 students.”

In all honesty, I think I get at least as much from the interviews as the pupils, perhaps more so. I find it massively energising to interact with the students. Their energy and positivity can only rub off. They also provide a great insight into what we should be considering for our staff going forward. Work practices and expectations change and such days can provide us with an early insight into those trends.

Thank you to Pool Academy for allowing me to attend their mock interview day and the opportunities afforded through their Business Partner scheme. We remain committed to contributing and developing our local community and I’m delighted to play just a small role in that.
